playGrades exists so parents can make better decisions about kids' activities. Honest reviews — including critical ones — are the whole point. This page explains what we do and don't moderate, and how disputes are handled.
We will not remove a review because an organization disagrees with it, finds it unfair, or asks us to. Negative experiences are valid data for other parents.
This includes:
We moderate reviews that cross specific lines. Where possible, we edit rather than remove — preserving the reviewer's experience while bringing the content into compliance.
Personal names — Reviews should describe experiences with an organization, not target individuals by name. We'll edit out the names of specific staff, owners, or coaches, replacing them with their role (e.g. "the owner" or "the head coach"). The substance of the review stays intact.
Harassment or threats — Content directed at a specific person in a threatening or harassing way will be removed.
Private information about children — We won't publish identifying details about minors.
Clearly fake or coordinated reviews — We monitor for patterns like same-day floods of reviews (positive or negative) that appear coordinated. Both fake positive and fake negative reviews violate this policy.
Spam or irrelevant content — Reviews that are clearly off-topic or not about the listed program will be removed.
We allow anonymous reviews to protect parent privacy in tight-knit local sports communities.
How reviewers are identified:
Because unverified reviews can't be attributed to an account, we may apply additional scrutiny when they contain specific allegations about individuals — and are more likely to edit content that violates this policy rather than leave it as posted.
If you're an org and believe a review violates this policy, you can flag it from your org page or email us at hello@playgrades.app with the review ID and the specific policy you believe was violated.
We'll review your request within 3–5 business days and let you know our decision. We won't remove a review simply because it's negative or disputed — only if it violates the policies above.
We don't arbitrate disputes between reviewers and organizations. We're not in a position to verify what happened, and we don't take sides.
We apply this policy equally to positive and negative reviews, and to large orgs and small ones. If we find a flood of suspiciously positive reviews on an org's page, we'll investigate those too.
Our goal is a platform parents can trust — which means protecting the integrity of honest feedback in both directions.
