Even though they had a goalie on the 2026 USMNT, Lisle's focus is not on creating elite player. It is not on teaching players what sort of fouls they can get away with. It is not on teaching them drama falls. The focus is on teaching the kids how to play the game; how to love the game; and how to play well. Last season, my son's team won several games by lopsided scores. The coaches feed back to the players was that they learn little from these games. They emphasized that they learn by the close games where they have to struggle and are close. My son has played for other clubs where he had teammates. Since coming to Lisle, he was immediately welcomed by his teammates and he is thriving.

While it's very disorganized with schedules coming the week of games, and playoff games not being notified in advance (last year we found out our pre-k playoff game was on the Saturday before Halloween, when all the community events are also planned, a few days before.) That being said, it is a great value, the kids have fun, and they learn soccer skills early. The refs do a great job, the coaches try their best, and the kids typically get paired with their local school so they make local friends playing on a team

The classic soccer league is designed to provide a fun and enjoyable environment for kids that can’t commit to soccer 3x a week (travel teams tend to be very competitive, no preference in team placement, and practice twice a week with games on weekends). The schedule comes out later every year (usually the same week as the first practice and games occur) and organizers are not very… organized. Coaches vary, as they are uncompensated volunteers, they pass background checks and take safety courses, but there is no actual Soccer coaching resources give to coaches. League offers classes at additional cost throughout the year. Referees are usually young kids that are hit or miss on their skills (most are not very great, but there are limited ways to know that and a small pool of available referees). Teams are usually made by keeping students from the same schools together and are based on school grade(s). So far the experience has been mostly positive. Some really great coaches, and some that aren’t really great.
