My son started taking lessons at Slammers 3.5 years ago because we were looking for solid catching instruction, which is hard to find. We did weekly catching lessons there for years while playing for a different travel team, eventually adding hitting lessons in with the weekly catching lessons. My son loved his weekly lessons at Slammers and grew so much as a player because of them. The summer before his freshman year of high school, his catching coach encouraged him to try out for Slammers. It was a hard decision because my son had been playing with his previous travel team for years, but he has goals to play in college, and the more we looked into all that Slammers offers, the more we realized that he would have so many more opportunities to grow and develop with them than his previous organization. He tried out and made Slammers and just finished his first year with them, which was great! The resources Slammers has is phenomenal. My son is there almost every day to work out, hit, catch, etc. The training program they have over the winter for the high school program is top notch. If your son wants to play beyond high school, Slammers is the place to be- they have so many resources for players in every position to improve and grow in their development IF they are willing to put the work in. If your player just wants to have fun playing with friends (which is completely fine!), there are probably better organizations for you that won’t cost as much. We feel that because my son takes advantage of all Slammers has to offer, it’s a great value for us, but I could understand other families feeling like it’s way too expensive if their son isn’t as invested. We’ve been very impressed by all the coaches we’ve met and worked with, and would recommend Slammers to any family with a serious baseball player who’s ready to put in the work!
