Our daughter was still new to pitching, but instead of limiting her opportunities, the coaches believed in her, encouraged her, and gave her meaningful chances to learn and improve. Their focus has always been on long-term development, celebrating small wins while helping players build confidence and learn from mistakes. What truly sets this team apart is the culture. The coaches have created a family, not just a team. The girls genuinely love being together, support one another, and have built lasting friendships. Practices are engaging, challenging, and fun, with the perfect balance of skill development, teamwork, and competition. I also appreciate that the focus extends well beyond softball. The coaches emphasize strength and conditioning, teamwork, and mental performance, helping the girls build confidence, resilience, focus, and composure both on and off the field. As parents, we've always felt our daughter was in a positive, supportive environment where she was encouraged to take risks, learn, and grow. We consistently hear positive things from our daughter and her teammates about the coaching staff, and their enthusiasm speaks for itself. Perhaps the greatest testament to this team is that every player is returning next season. In today's travel softball world, that's incredibly rare and speaks volumes about the culture, coaching, and player development. They build character, emphasize effort and teamwork, and make the experience positive regardless of wins or losses. As for the one negative post—please take it with caution. It comes from someone not involved with the team and likely carrying a bias.”

“Our experience with DuPage Revolution comes from playing against one of the younger teams with a male head coach over the past couple of seasons. While we can't speak to every team in the organization, we've consistently observed a coaching environment that feels unnecessarily harsh for elementary-aged athletes. Positive reinforcement appears to be limited, while public criticism, sarcasm, and negative interactions with players are common. We've heard players called names like "space cadet," told to "stop crying and get your act together," and spoken to in ways that were loud enough for players, parents, and spectators on both sides of the field to hear. Competitive softball absolutely requires accountability, but there is a difference between correcting mistakes and publicly embarrassing young players. In our observations, the coaching style often seemed to rely on public criticism rather than teaching, encouraging, and building confidence. We've also witnessed frequent arguments with umpires, emotional reactions to routine game situations, and sideline behavior that shifts the focus away from developing the athletes. Coaches set the tone for their teams, and youth players deserve leaders who model composure, sportsmanship, and respect, regardless of the score. There are many organizations that can teach softball fundamentals. What separates great youth programs is how they develop young athletes as people. Based on what we've consistently observed from the opposing dugout, we believe DuPage Revolution has room to improve the culture on some of its teams by placing a greater emphasis on respectful communication, positive player development, and sportsmanship. It seems like there was a large turnover of players from the 24-25 season to the 25-26 season, and I'm honestly surprised this specific team has enough players returning that they are not holding tryouts for next season. ”
