“Our experience with the Geneva Foxes has been a positive one overall. The coaches and organization are committed to creating a competitive environment, and our athlete has enjoyed being part of the program. One area where we believe there is room for improvement is the offseason training. The facilities are good and provide opportunities for players to continue working on their skills. However, they are not fully equipped to adequately support the development of every position. Certain positional players, particularly those requiring specialized defensive instruction and repetitions, may not have access to the space or resources needed to maximize their growth during the offseason. As players progress and their goals become more advanced, position-specific development becomes increasingly important. Expanding the offseason training environment to better accommodate all positions would strengthen an already solid program and provide more comprehensive player development.”

“Our experience with the Geneva Foxes had both positives and frustrations. The organization provides dedicated coaches and a competitive schedule, but there are several areas that we believe need improvement. One of the biggest concerns was the perception of favoritism. Opportunities, playing time, and player development did not always appear to be earned through performance or effort. When athletes and families feel that decisions are influenced by factors other than merit, it can undermine trust in the program and negatively impact player confidence and morale. The offseason training facilities are adequate, but they do not fully meet the developmental needs of all positional players. While hitters have opportunities to improve, players at specialized defensive positions may not receive the repetitions, space, or instruction necessary to continue developing at the same pace. A more balanced approach to player development would benefit the entire organization. Another area for growth is the use of objective metrics when evaluating players and making lineup decisions. Today’s technology and available data provide coaches with more information than ever before. Metrics such as exit velocity, throwing velocity, sprint speed, defensive metrics, and, most importantly, in-game performance statistics should all be considered. Offensive production, on-base percentage, fielding percentage, quality at-bats, pitching statistics, and other measurable game data can help ensure evaluations are consistent, transparent, and based on performance rather than perception. Finally, accountability should be applied consistently across the roster. Team rules, expectations, and standards should be enforced equally for every player. When inappropriate behavior or violations of team expectations go unaddressed for some athletes while others are held accountable, it creates an environment where standards feel inconsistent and can erode team culture.”
