“It's good for kids that are just learning. It's parent coaches, although we've never had an issue. My daughter has done it for a few years now and enjoyed it. Every season she's done it, there have been kids on the team that have been playing for their first time, which was frustrating for her as someone who had played for a few years. Going into 4th grade, she's picked basketball as her favorite sport and will likely be looking for a more intense/completive league going forward. ”
“Also had a 6 year old boy in the kindergarten level. At the younger ages when matching up the bracelet colors, take an extra 10 seconds and organize the kids by height and then hand out the bracelets to match (coaches or refs please step up). That would remove like 80% of any problems I have with this program. Congrats to your 4’6” daughter who scored half the team’s points while being guarded by someone 10 inches shorter. I don’t think that benefits either of those kids or their teammates in terms of learning basketball. ”
“Park dist. Basketball is great for kids. I think it's a good mix of kids that may know how to play with others that are just starting off. The early Saturday mornings can be tough, and parking is crowded. And if you have other children not playing bring some kinda small activity. ”
“Super fun for the kids and great value. There's not a ton of other basketball options for 8 year olds around town, so it's nice having a high value PD option. Practice facilities were not great. We practiced on half court at Mill Street this season, and one of the three hoops was broken and we were asked not to use it. Kind of a bummer. And, there was practice happening on the other half of the court, so it was extremely loud and difficult for the coaches to hold the kids' attention. Also the parking lot at Ft Hill is a zoo. Is what it is I guess. Good program. We'll be back next season. ”
“It's fine and fun when they are in Kindergarten through about 2nd Grade. After that, they keep the rules so remedial that if your child is any good at basketball they will regress, or not improve. It's also not competitive at all, which I don't think is good for the kids.”
